Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people who are most at-risk. In more than three decades of operation, JAG has delivered consistent, compelling results by helping nearly three-quarters of a million young people stay in school through graduation, pursue post secondary education, and secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.
The JAG program was initiated in the Russellville School District (RSD) in August 2014 at the Secondary Learning Center to assist students with high school completion and job/higher education and/or technical training.
The program consists of a range of skills including language skills, life skills, math computation skills, soft skills and group project work. JAG also places an emphasis on leadership skills and service to the community. JAG students are able to work while attending school, participate in internships at local businesses, hear guest speakers to help them understand the working world, and support each other in the program and the building.
To date, more than 50 JAG graduates have participated in the program and have completed high school.
JAG Ropes Challenge Course – JAG students participate annually in a field trip to a ropes challenge course that helps them build teamwork skills, overcome personal fears and push themselves to their own limits.
JAG Coffee House – Each semester, JAG sponsors and students present their talents and skills at a SLC Coffee House.
Ringing the Bells for Salvation Army – JAG students donate their time to support Salvation Army fundraising during the holidays.
