Russellville School District hosted Senator Breanne Davis, State Representative Stan Berry, and State Representative Aaron Pilkington for Take Your Legislators to School Month. The legislators visited Center Valley Elementary and Russellville Junior High School where they learned about the District’s work in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH), and High Reliability Schools (HRS).
Quote: “Hosting the legislators was a great way for them to hear all the great things going on in RSD! I am so proud of all the work RSD is doing, and it is always an honor to see our Legislators supporting educators and students in our schools,” commented Dr. Ginni McDonald, RSD Superintendent.
Beginning at Center Valley Elementary (CVE), legislators heard from Principal, Victoria Golden, and CVE classroom teachers about their work in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), which is a process that ensures collaboration between teachers across grade levels, buildings, and the District. The teachers also spoke about the positive impact of Capturing Kids’ Hearts, which focuses on building relationships with students and staff alike.
The next stop was Russellville Junior High School, where legislators heard from RJHS teachers and Principal, Mr. Matt Kordsmeier about their accomplishment in achieving High Reliability Schools Level 1, which is a framework that shows how best practices work together and provides indicators to empower schools to measure progress on attaining five increasing levels of reliability.
Legislators had the opportunity to meet RJHS Superintendent’s Advisory students and the Russellville High School’s three National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. These students shared their accomplishments and how practices such as Capturing Kids’ Hearts have positively impacted their learning and academic environments.
Thank you to Senator Breanne Davis, State Representative Stan Berry, and State Representative Aaron Pilkington for attending RSD’s Take Your Legislators to School Day!
