Kenenna Ilechukwu, a student at Russellville High School, was recently recognized at the School Board meeting for exemplifying what it means to be a Responsible Citizen. Whether it’s stepping up as a leader in group projects, lending a hand to peers, or treating others with kindness and respect, Kenenna continues to show what true leadership looks like.
To Kenenna, being a responsible citizen means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It’s about following the rules, staying informed, and standing up for what’s right. From picking up trash to helping others in need, Kenenna believes even small acts can make a big impact.
“I started developing leadership skills by taking on small responsibilities, like being a group leader in class projects or helping organize school events. I learned a lot from people around me, especially my dad, who’s a strong and kind leader. They showed me that being a leader isn’t about bossing people around—it’s about listening, staying calm, and helping your team succeed. I’ve also learned by watching teachers and coaches who know how to bring people together and get the best out of everyone,” Kenenna said.
Outside of class, Kenenna stays active in school activities, National BETA Society, Chess Club, Student Council, Cyclone Band, RHS Track and Field, and Campus Connect. This recognition comes from the Profile of the RSD Graduate, which outlines the attributes RSD graduates will encompass when they graduate.
Great job, Kenenna! Thank you for being an excellent example for your fellow students!
