Covid-19 Quarantine Guidelines
& Helpful Information for RSD Families
Saturday, July 24, 2021
\r\nDear RSD Families,\r\n
\r\nAs part of our district’s continual monitoring of the Covid-19 virus, RSD would like to provide current quarantine guidelines as recommended by the Arkansas Department of Health.
\r\nRussellville School District has followed the Covid-19 quarantine directives given by the Governor and the Arkansas Department of Health and will continue to do so going into the new school year.
\r\nAs of July 24, 2021 the Arkansas Department of Health Guidance for Self Home Quarantine are as follows:
\r\nIf you have been fully vaccinated and are considered a ‘close contact’ to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 you do not have to quarantine if you do not have symptoms.
\r\nHowever, if you develop symptoms, it is recommended you isolate and get tested for COVID-19.
\r\n*A person is considered to be fully vaccinated if they have received both doses or the single dose vaccine, and it has been 2 weeks since their final dose.
\r\nIf you are not fully vaccinated and are a close contact to a positive case you will need to quarantine, even if you don’t feel sick and even if you have received a negative test for COVID-19.
\r\nAs stated on the Arkansas Department of Health website:
\r\nClose contact, generally, means you were within 6 feet of the person for at least 15 minutes total while they were infectious.
COVID-19 patients are considered infectious two days before their symptoms started, or two days before their positive test if they do not develop symptoms.
All close contacts should get tested for COVID-19 by PCR test about five (5) days after the last exposure to the positive person.
PCR tests are preferred but rapid tests are acceptable.
In accordance with new CDC guidelines, quarantine can end after 10 days without testing if no symptoms have occurred.
Or, it can end after 7 days if no symptoms have occurred and a test returned a negative result. Note that the test sample must have been collected at least 5 days after exposure.
Russellville School District encourages our staff, students, and families to become familiar with the available guidelines, as we continue to practice all other Health Department directives until further announcements are made.
\r\nSincerely,
\r\nAndrew Vining, Interim Superintendent
\r\nSuperintendent’s Administrative Leadership Team
