RSD Providing Free Breakfast to All Students
RUSSELLVILLE Ark. - Russellville School District will be providing free breakfast to all students (K-12) for the 2022-2023 school year. This is in response to the discontinued federal meal waiver that expired on June 30, 2022.
For the past two years, there was a federal waiver for students to receive free school meals. The Arkansas Child Nutrition Unit will treat this school year as a traditional year where families will fill out applications to determine if their child(ren) qualifies for paid, reduced, or free meals.
RSD Board of Education President, Jason Golden, says, "Our School Board is focused on making student-led decisions. I am so thankful RSD can provide this support to our students and families. I know providing school supplies and breakfast will be a great help to many this year. I'm optimistic about continuing our work to improve teacher salaries and excited for the bright future ahead."
Additional information for completing meal applications will be available in the coming weeks.
