🌪️ 3 Educators Rising students,  Alex Bates, Katie Hovis, and Joy Skaggs, traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Conference and Competition this past week!  🌟 Here's some of the highlights from the trip:    🎉 Katie Hovis finished as a national semifinalist in her competition: Exploring Education Administration Careers. Hovis was the only Arkansas participant to earn a semifinalist or higher rank! 🎉 While at the conference, the students participated in several sessions, including Joy Skaggs, who participated in a field test for the new Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Mathematics Exam. She achieved a perfect score; an achievement never seen before! 🎉 In addition to activities at the conference, the students also met with Representative Bruce Westerman, who took the team on a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol. (Joy Skaggs was invited to explain who Norman Borlaug was to the rest of the audience in the statuary because Skaggs was the only person who knew of him due to a research paper she wrote about him for her AP World  History class.) While on the tour, the team also caught up with former Ed Rising student Ellie Lamoureux (RHS Class of 2023) who was interning for Senator Tom Cotton. 🎉 The team also met with Senator John Boozman's staff in his offices to discuss education issues and governmental policy. What an amazing trip! Congratulations students!   #OneRSD ❤️ 🌪️ 🖤
